Self-Locking Cover Blocks

For reinforcement that has to remain at the required concrete cover. CROSSLOCK cover blocks positively engage with the steel, helping the spacer stay in position during normal site handling before concreting.

Compare the complete site cost

Compare the material actually used, labour, breakage, movement and whether the specified steel position is maintained. Never reduce cover specified by the structural engineer.

Why reinforcement position matters.

The structural drawing fixes where the reinforcement has to remain. Different CROSSLOCK products support bottom cover, top-steel level and side cover in different RCC conditions.

Cover blocks help keep steel at the specified distance from the concrete face or shuttering.

Rebar chairs support upper reinforcement where its level has to be maintained before concreting.

Why not use a cement or mortar cover block?

Compare more than the piece price. Look at strength, consistency, fixing, movement during site work, breakage or wastage and whether the required concrete cover is actually maintained.

Why can CROSSLOCK cost more than a traditional cover block?

Piece price is only one part of the decision. The useful comparison also includes fixing, site handling, movement, breakage or wastage, consistency and possible rework.

Will the spacer move during concreting?

CROSSLOCK products are designed to remain engaged with reinforcement and resist unwanted movement or rotation. Correct product selection and installation still matter.

Why use a rebar chair for top steel?

A rebar chair supports the upper reinforcement at the required level. It is a different job from maintaining bottom concrete cover, so a cover block should not be treated as a chair.

Why use a vertical rebar spacer?

Columns, beams, walls and pile cages need side or radial cover. A vertical spacer stays with the cage while reinforcement is handled, shuttering is closed or a pile cage is lowered.
